The flagging probably has nothing to do with you, at least negatively. The new thing to do if you are a Porsche scavenger is to flag a good deal as fast as possible so that it is taken down, but the person (slimeball) that is flagging already has the contact info, but has eliminated most of the competition for the car. Over at the Early 911S Registry website, a couple of guys have really been watching this new practice, and somebody put up a test posting which was flagged very quickly.

It's kind of like being at an auto auction and pulling fuses out of a running car, only cyber. It's a shame things have gotten to this point. Looks like it might be creeping into the Alfa world now, as well.

I'm not saying its happening but would pay to advertise sites benefit by certain classes of cars being flagged?

It's all about competition... If CL made it impossible to remove your "wanted" ad, you would just end up having a bunch of "alfa wanted" ads posted along with yours. There are certain model cars that I keep my eye out for on CL, but because of the flagging, I just take approach that I need to "jump" on the good deals and be the first to contact the seller. It becomes a game of luck...

Its all about perception

The thing I like about CL is that it polices itself. For ads that get flagged, one needs to ask oneself "WHY?". It;s like the guy that never bathes going to a party. Suddenly everyone is avoiding him and hes left wondering WHY? As far as hes concerned, he doesnt smell-- whats the problem???

I have seen CL ads from what I believe (based on evidence) to be dealers and flippers and guess what-- I flag em! Thats the rules. Hate the game, don;t hate the playa! CL is expressly NOT for dealers and commercial.

I picked up my 5 speed LS from LA craigslist, and the guy I bought it from had gotten quite a few phone calls before and after mine, some rather aggressive and obnxious (his words), even with higher than listed price offers. The ad continued to run (it was never flagged) and I ended up with the car. It might have been because I tried my best to be polite, to listen to his concerns, and try to accomdate his needs while meeting mine as well.

I have also seen ads in CARS for "I BUY FIREBIRD CARS". Guess what ? That ad doesnt belong there. It belongs in WANTED. CARS is in the FOR SALE domain of CL.

Pay=Money spent. So your time is better spent when you are more efficient with less hassle. Is there something special about CL?...
My choices for where to advertise have more to do with which sites get the most traffic and attention than how much they cost. CL is free, but it's also great because (a) it's local and (b) it gets a lot of looks in its more popular areas.

Places like Alfa BB are free, and you get quality, real traffic here, too. When I placed a classified ad here a couple of months ago I made sure to include a cash donation to keep the board up and free to view and post.
