Even Pat Braden says right in the Bible that it's not a replacement for having a shop manual. I've not yet done my own head gasket, but as I prepare to pull my engine and tranny out, I'm starting to see the limitations of trying to use just the Bible as a guide to mechanical work. The Bible has some great tips and hints for sure, but sometimes you need the basic procedures laid out.

yeah, but it is way better than the workshop manual! the workshop manual doesn't have a step-by-step guide at all... The Alfa bible has been WAY more helpful and has WAY more information and actual pictures of everything... It is more of a workshop manual than the workshop manuals out there... does anyone have a better step-by-step guide on replacing the headgasket?

I bought a full set of Huskey tools and unscrewed the Spark Plugs... turns out the pistons are silver and shiny... guess it is a blown headgasket!

Imagine that. Take a picture of the piston tops and post it and someone should be able to tell you if they're hi compression or not. Would verify if the engine has been performance tuned. Check the cam numbers as well while you have the cam cover off.

Yeah, I recall that a blown headgasket was the original diagnosis at the beginning of this thread.

*sigh*

Hey,

Just caught up with the forum. I don't if it's still for sale or where you are located.

Thanks,

Nick
