Help with egine ID in my Giulietta

I know this is not the right category, but figured most people check the classifieds out. I am looking for some assistance in identifying the engine in my Giulietta Spider. The car underwent an engine swap at some point, and I was not able to get any information on the engine. The number on the block is: AR 0051807470 - I believe it is a 1750, but would like to confirm that and also identify what model the engine is indicated for. BTW, the Giulietta is currently on ebay so if you have any interest check it out. Thanks in advance.

Don't know off hand what an 00518 engine is (I'll look it up this evening) but it's not a 1750. 1750s came in two flavors; 00548 (Euro) and 00551 (USA).

Hmmm.....
No listing on an 00518 engine. Could it possibly be an 00516?

Jim, I seem to have omitted a digit - this is the correct number: 00551807470 - which according to your post indicates that it is a 1750 US. Do you have any way of telling me what year or model this engine was indicated for? Thanks for your help!

Is it possible you now have one too many numbers in the engine ID? If you dropped the "8" then the number fits nicely in the 1971 1750 family. Number 00551*07470, according to Fusi, is a 1971 motor.

If you'd like to look it up yourself there are scans of the Fusi reference here on the BB:

Alex, you have solved my mystery! Thanks for your help. The asterik looked like an "8" to me! So, this is the correct number: AR 00551*07470. Jason, thank you for the link on Fusi's Production Numbers. Appreciate everyone's help.

Regards,

Richard
