Would consider partial trade for Berlina in driver condition (no projects).
Thanks Jeff

Any ideas on where else to market my car for more exposure ? I only have listed here so far and have talked with some interested people but nothing further.
Thanks in advance for input.

I'm thinking that the main issue is not the obviously spectacular condition of your car; but, that there are any number of very nicely restored GTV's selling for under $10,000, even on eBay as well as here on the BB. Not that these cars are certainly worth more, but the market is the market.

I politely disagree. I haven't seen ANY "very nicely restored GTV's selling for under $10,000, even on eBay as well as here on the BB" in years. Granted, the word "restored" is open to interpretation. I'd say you'd be lucky to get a decent driver for $10K but not one that has been "restored" in the last decade or two.

In my humble personal opinion, I'd say that "extremely nice condition restored GTV's that are still drivers and not trailer queens" are currently worth anywhere from $20K - $35K max in the current "soft economy" depending on the condition and details of the particular car. Although I admit I have seen 2 "nice driver" GTVs offered here on the BB recently for $16,500 and $18K respectively.

If you are patient and willing to negotiate, I'd say you will find a buyer eventually here on the BB. Although I just re-read your post and I think MUCH greater written detail about your GTV would really help prospective buyers assess your car and It's value.

Of course some other avenues might be: Craigslist, eBay (not my personal favorite), hemmings, anamera.com, not to mention taking your GTV to various events. Also, I've read on Ferrarichat.com that a lot of Ferrari guys are really into GTVs. You may want to post there. Good luck with the sale.

Oh? See the following two links, for GTV's not sold in September that closed at prices of $7100 and $7600, respectively:

Alfa Romeo:eBay Motors (item 150369538436 end time Sep-06-09 17:42:44 PDT)

Alfa Romeo:eBay Motors (item 180407667434 end time Sep-20-09 17:52:36 PDT)

and I'm only referring above to 1974 only, as is the lovely one for sale on this thread.

Yes exactly... "not sold". In your first post you said, "that there are any number of very nicely restored GTV's selling for under $10,000, even on eBay as well as here on the BB." Key words = "selling for".

Regarding the first eBay auction: The car did not meet it's reserve and therefore did not sell at $7,100. Engine bay painted in primer, dirty/rusty/corroded engine, old hoses, etc. + spray painted under carriage (rust?), oil under transmission, non-matching and worn interior, terrible gaps in rear trunk... doesn't equal "restored" to me, although probably worth the $7,100 bid (or more, depending).

Regarding the 2nd eBay auction (Sold @ $7600): I would hardly call it "restored" with the following owner's description:

"The low end needs new piston liners and currently burns oil... The paint and body are in good condition as shown in the photos but I would like to point out there are small dents on the front nose and another at the left rear corner panel as well as a quarter-sized dent in the front left fender. There is also rust around the passenger door handle. The interior was restored by the previous owner and is also in good condition with only a small tear in the side of the passenger headrest."

Where else did this car have rust? Not to mention the engine bay is painted in primer. Good chance this car was not the original color. In my opinion... Barely a "driver" (piston liners and rust!?!?) in need of "restoration" NOT a "very nicely restored GTV selling for under $10,000".

The two GTVs I referred to on the BB for $16,500 and $18,000 are also '74s.

Alfamel,
All do respect the cars you compare mine too are in no way comparable, apples and oranges. I will take partial responsibility as stated in prior posts I could have represented this car beter in the beginning but my nature is to under promise and over deliver. I at times dont give the vehicles I own enough credit but you helped me stand back and take a look.
Yes the market is the market and in the future in good times this car may be worth what has been invested in it, but not now. Fangio8c, thank you for your input.
I will regroup and put together an ad truly showing how nice of a gtv this car really is. I must be careful because I may talk myself out of selling. Thanks all for your comments. Jeff
