Great stuff here about general Alfa ownership
"Buy a sweety at todays depressed prices and you will never look back."
That, and other statements, are very helpful to us neophytes/newbies. I had an Alfa 30 years ago when I was a kid and loved it, but sold it buy a Toyota to go to back to college with. Lately I've been thinking of buying another one, probably a '67-'71 GTV if I can find one that's right for my needs and wants. When I sold my '67 in the mid '70s for $1,800, it had a rebuilt engine, needed 2nd gear synchros, had a good interior and only minor rust. Now to buy one in that condition will cost several times that amount, but I've been thinking there's probably no better time to make a move. These cars are getting harder to find, are special in many ways, and will therefore probably continue to get pricier. It's also VERY true that one should buy the best one can get because most fixer-uppers will end up costing the same or more, ultimately, as a good solid one, but with more headaches in the process. Thanks for all the wise thoughts, folks.
