Italiaspeed.com is reporting that the delivery of the first 8Cs are underway.
Alfa Romeo has started deliveries of the stunning Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, its unique interpretation of a super car for the 21st century, but don’t expect to see one on a road near you anytime soon. Just 500 are being. The 8C evokes Alfa Romeo’s glorious past and projects the values of technology and emotion that will be at the core of the next generation of Alfa Romeo models, as well as spearheading Alfa Romeo’s return to the USA.

Wow!
Now thats an Alfa Romeo. Really bringing the 100 plus years of automobile engineering all packed in that car. NO More competing with the young BMW guys. While Alfas were winning world renouned races, BMW guys were in diapers. Now Maserati was a competitor but Ferrari also didnt exsist. He was too busy in class at the Alfa Romeo (How to build an Automobile School) so he is now a successfull engineer as well. I love Alfa Romeo.

I'm going to stick to my guns and say putting an Alfa in a Maserati/Ferrari showroom is a HUGE marketing mistake. Even the 8C would be in trouble were it not for it's limited numbers. I have seen a live Maserati GranTurismo up close. The GranTurismo is an incredible looking car that would, IMHO, smoke the 8C out of the showroom, especially for $80k less! If the 8C doesn't catch on and is not perceived a future collectable, it is going to have problems on a showroom filled with 612's, 599's and GranTurismos. Not bagging on the 8C, as i'm sure it is a great car but, I'll take the Mazer first with 80K left over.

Casey Stoner track tests the Alfa 8C Competizione
Recently crowned winner of the world MotoGp 2007 championship, Casey Stoner returns to the track for new thrills but this time not in the saddle of his powerful Desmosedici GP7 number 27. Today the twenty-two-year-old Australian was invited by brand Alfa Romeo – Official Sponsor of the Ducati team in 2006 and 2007 – to the Balocco (Vercelli) circuit to test drive the new Alfa 8C Competizione.
It took Stoner just a few laps to find himself in tune with the latest Gran Turismo car from the Alfa Romeo Style Centre, an expression of the very best in Italian design. At the end of the session the young driver, Alfa brand testimonial this season, exclaimed: “Really extraordinary! The Alfa 8C Competizione is the best car I’ve ever driven”.
Manufactured in a limited series of 500 units, the Alfa 8C Competizione stands out for its sculpted, finely modelled surfaces which provide perfect “clothing” for the excellent engine and mechanicals, a perfect blend of elegance and sportiness. So, a quite unique vehicle that takes its inspiration from the brand’s glorious past – as its name makes clear – projecting into the future those values of technology and emotion that have always been part of the Brand. And with full respect for Alfa Romeo’s legendary tradition, the Alfa 8C Competizione is equipped with a new 90° V-shaped 8 cylinder unit with a capacity of 4691 cc which has been designed with a very clear objective in mind: to guarantee extraordinary performance but without giving up on running smoothness and the ability to tackle any situation, on the track or in city traffic. Operating at the top of its powers, the engine offers a maximum output of 450 bhp at 7000 rpm, and peak torque of 470 Nm at 4750 rpm (maximum revs of 7500 rpm).

This really needs to be posted in the For Sale section.
Oh yeah, don't forget to post stats on mileage/condition and some pictures would also be helpful.

Well in fairness, the black one in this particular test had the optional wheel package. (40% lighter than stock). Something you can get on a red one too.
I'm waiting for the "full report" from winding road, which should be out soon.

I think all BBers know that Black Alfas are faster than other comparable models,.... 'cause they always attract the best drivers.
Best regards,

Road & Track Test Drive
ROADandTRACK.com -- Road Tests - Road Test: 2008 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione (1/2008)
http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/d...108_Alfa8c.pdf
-8C is purebred, a well-balanced mixture of Alfa's design DNA and modern elements like LED foglights. Admire the paint, feel the materials and realize a build quality that is exceptionally good

-The seat shells (we know them from the Ferrari Enzo and Maserati MC12) are also made of carbon fiber, and Alfa offers three different sizes for a custom fit.
-Ah, but what an awesome sound to wake up to.

-The 8C is a precise driving instrument, following the pilot's orders immediately. Changing gears manually is fun as well: In Sport mode, the Magneti Marelli system (Ferrari uses the same on the F430 and 599 Fiorano) operates even faster (0.2 instead of 0.4 second), while downshifts are accompanied by perfect blips of revs.

-Stunt drivers won't miss the handbrake, as the 8C doesn't need that kind of cornering support: Just use the right foot! Oversteer can easily be provoked, especially with stability and traction controls switched off. The 8C is a great drifting machine and it is certainly among the best rear-wheel-drive cars we've ever tested.
-And one of the best in sound too: At over 4000 revs, bypass flaps in the exhaust system change the roar to an open-air concert; using the radio at this time can be considered a criminal offense. Equally impressive as the sound was the 8C's stopping power, setting an R&T best from 60–0 mph of just 105 ft.

Nice Date, but . . . No ring
Dazzled by the bright lights, eh? I just hope when they ship that first batch of 144 or so over, they fill the containers and trunks with a lot of spare parts for the older cars still running on fumes over here. (LOL!!) While the car is very nice, the reputation as a stayer is shaky. My friend with a 65 MB can still get body and trim parts - things like OE tail light/blinker lenses.
I'd rather like to see the marketing plan for the next twenty than an 8x10 glossy before I shell out for even their second or third US offering. Don't talk to me about supporting the marque; I have, without their support. Fool, me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. No Betas or Gammas for me this time around. My true test of ARI will be if they pay any attention at all to their former loyal customers, or develop amnesia about their past.
And thanks to the many fine vendors and shops who have provided for us over this rough period.
