Right?
This thread is just for slightly more informed "people", and you are very intelligent, right.
It's the same people. (krinkle is right above you)
Unfortunately, you continue to bore "ALL PEOPLE" with the same old same: "Alfa is a joke, they need to make a 149GTA for $25K, I think the Mazda is a better deal, you need to drive a Mazda 3 or 6, I would never buy an Alfa, there are elitists in the Alfa community, 98% of Alda vehicles are plainly transportation vehicles, Alfa's 2 liter is no more potent than any other manufacturer, not more exciting than a Toyota, modern Alfas have zero interest to me, for my money .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ............. it never freaking ends, NEVER!
You should consider becoming a history book, seems to be your "forte". You take a place on the Alfa History category and open up your knowledge when it's called upon.

What's next, someone is going to sue me for stating my opinion?
There are just as many people who repeat nothing more than rah rah Alfa...

Okaaaay, umm, this is an Alfa Romeo board, no? The practical reality if that if one repeatedly dismisses and denigrates all things Alfa, at least all Alfas that are younger than forty years old, what else do you expect?

Was't this thread titled something like BMWs suck? All I've been doing is posting a RESPONSE to all the rah rah.

It was, 600 odd posts ago.
"All I've been doing is posting a RESPONSE to all the rah rah."
One need not protect one marque (BMW) by dissing another (Alfa). Especially when it's coming from an Alfisti.

So one is not an Alfisti if he isn't interested in the modern cars?

Your apparent syllogism escapes me. I never suggested or implied as much.
I was simply responding to your evident surprise at the responses to your statement:
"What's next, someone is going to sue me for stating my opinion?
There are just as many people who repeat nothing more than rah rah "
as you continue to bash anything Alfa post 1970. Not modern cars, modern Alfas. Coming from an Alfisti, it seems incongruous.

The thread is why the NEW 8C is SUCH a great car. And it is. And it's beautiful. And it's NEW.
New can be as beautiful as classic - to say it can't be is to write off entire generations as incapable of designing great things, because nothing is any good after 19-whatever. I run into this every day in architectural preservation people, who refuse to acknowledge that anything new can be good. I have restored beautiful historic buildings, and I do it with great care and respect. I also like to think I and my generation can design beautiful, functional, modern, new things that are the equal, and will continue to inspire people as they age. Good design never gets old, no matter it's age or era.

This is a site for Alfa Romeo ENTHUSIASTS, hence our enthusiam. Pardon us if we seem too positive.
My wife's father, who was an artist, had a quote taped to a studio door..."We should look forward to the future - we have to spend the rest of our lives there."

The suit comment was what I though an obvious reference to a certain banned Belgian
The other comment was simply stating the fact that there are any number of people on this board that thinks anyone who questions anything about Alfa is evil.
I don't see what is incongrous about not being interested in post-berlina era Alfas.

I understood the suit comment, natch.
What I was focusing on is what seems -- not so much a lack of interest -- but abject antipathy for Alfa post 1970 on your part, and your surprise at other posters aggravation as a result. You may repeatedly diss post 70's Alfa, but fully expect a hearty chorus of boos and hisses on an Alfa board.

1. I agree - Question Authority!
2. Being uninterested is different than denigrating everything new.

I was born in an ancient small town in Italy and old people continue to laugh about the Priest who told the locals that they must "come forward to today's era" the people obeyed and all moved their chairs up a couple of feet.
Mike, you said it well and believe me, I know exactly what you are talking about. In my opinion, Alfa has continued to evolve the automobile's design. While most of us would love for them to be a bit more competetive and loose a bit of weight, their creativity has not seized at all. In a world of boredome, their designs continue to create trends. Personally, I really appreciate what Alfa did starting with the interiors of the 164, in my opinion, one of the most tastefull interiors ever in a car. I believe that some of the better designers, like Walter De Silva are Architecture graduates and have brought a different perspective to automotive design. I'm not saying that they have superceded the classical designers of the fifties or sixties, but in their own merit have come to re-interpret and interlace what we all love about Alfa Romeo design.
While I may never achieve or satisfy "Walter Groupius's" dream, I find satisfaction in attempting to create structure that may fit todays need with a bit of yester-years flair.

Thank you, I appreciate that. (I love moving your chairs up to the future!) And I agree with the evolution of design. Since this is an 8C thread, one can see in the new design many references to those historic Alfas we hold dear, while not becoming a nostalgic retrograde object. As an example, look at the ridiculous new Morgans as someone desperately clawing at the past. Like The Force, nostalgia is strong with people. Unable to see possibilities, hanging on to the past and what's comfortable.
The 8C is a modern, beautiful, elegant, purposeful automobile with character, aggressiveness, history, and most importantly, guts! It has a great chassis and a great engine - I'm not in favor of glamour cars with no guts to back their looks up with. The Diva prototype is the same - innovative design, great engineering, and a respectful nod to the past. But subtle, in that those unfamiliar with that past would not even recognize those features as having historic references. That is design skill.
