I think the 8c will not only be a halo product for Alfa Romeo but also provide styling cues to the new models (169, 149, Junior, Kamal, etc).

Quotes from CAR mag. for 8c Spider.
-Alfa's Ferrari
-As BALLISTIC AS FERRARI F430 and quicker than a Maserati Gransport.
-The sparco racing seat was originally developed for the ferrari enzo.
-SYMPHONY...the noise it makes is absolutely divine. The four tailpipes sound like an orchestra, lifting the v8's burbling vibe to a cresendo. The alfa minders listened nervously.
-The 8C even TRUMPS THE FERRARI'S F430 4.3 LITRES and serves up more torque.
-ALFA RISING..nobody at Alfa is kidding themselves that the 8c is a turnaround car.But it's one hell of a halo model, and it could just be the start of another era of Italian glory.

During the Bologna Motor Show, Alfa CEO Antonio Baravalle confirmed that the 8C Competizione will make Alfa's official return to the track, taking part in endurance events, such as the 24h of Le Mans, Nόrburgring and Daytona.
On the other hand, during 2007 Alfa will keep its semi-official 156 in the WTCC.

Seriously? The actual same articles (i.e., not that they both wrote about the Mercury Milan and said basically the same thing)? That's kind of cheesy.
Must be a recent thing. It's been probably 2 years since I stopped R&T, but I subscribed to both of them for about 8 years, read 'em both cover to cover, and never saw that happen.
Are they owned by the same publisher, maybe? I can see reprinting a story that appeared elsewhere if it's an experience that can't be duplicated -- like the Mercedes historic division offering a drive in their 300 SLR to Sir Stirling, but not to every motojournalist on the planet -- but otherwise it seems like a rip.
