So you would rather have no Alfas at all? Without FIAT, there would be no Alfa or Ferrari. Without Ford there would be no Jaguar, Volvo, Aston Martin, or Land Rover; without GM there would be no Saab; no Lamborghini and Bentley without Audi; etc, etc, etc.

Facts need to be faced, Alfa could not survive on its own and needed assistance. Merging/sharing products is a result of this. The parent companies should expect a return on their investments - they're businesses, not charitable organizations.

If all the above mentioned companies were so great to begin with they shouldn't have needed to be bailed out. They were all competing for the same respective customers but failed. Does it seam reasonable for the parent companies to allow them to continue their downward spiral? No, instead, they needed to share development costs in order to survive. The "purest" mentality is no longer valid.

I'll just add that it's too bad this doesn't have the 3.2 V6 from the GTA (or a variant of it) and be priced near the Cayman or Cayman S. $100k+ is simply not even remotely do-able for me but I'd work pretty darn hard to make $50-60k work.

(Forgive me if the V6 thing has already been mentioned, I pretty much gave up reading every post in this thread for obvious reasons...)

I mean I know exactly how you feel, but i can assure you the same two people are the culprits to all this bickering that happens in almost every New Alfa thread... its so old, and yet.. do we just let them throw out lies about alfa? as an Alfa fan i cant do that. although i do TRY haha.

SPTSDN.. Not too much talk has been made of the v6, there was a twin turbo v6 concept floating around for the GTA, but i believe that was squashed early on.. (good thing if you ask me). I dont think the 3.2 v6 was ever in the running for the 8c, (besides the fact youd have to change the name heh), but who knows. I like the 8cyl, theres a video floating around of the 8c Spider doing a fly by and it sounds awsome.

I'm certainly not against an 8 cylinder car but would prefer something far more affordable. I know this is to be a show-case car but I feel there could be a much bigger market in the $50-60k range. From what I've read this (or a similar) car is going to jump-start the return of Alfa; supposedly to get people excited and visit the showroom and hope they leave in a 159 or whatever. I just don't think that type of marketing works very well. I just don't see many people visiting a Chevy dealer to look at the Corvette and be so impressed that they leave with a Malibu. Build and sell a car your primary market can afford. Besides, don't you want the cars on the road advertising for you? I seriously doubt people would buy the 8c as a $100k daily driver. Admittedly, I would if I could! Keep the costs down it becomes much more feasible.

No but I have read that guys who initially bought a Viper came back and bought their wife a Dodge minivan and their kids a Neon. While Alfa doesn't exactly have such a full line up I don't think that approach is a complete failure. I definitely think there is a aspirational aspect to it. There's a good reason why Mercedes has made their C class look like their S class.

Of course.

Alfa is dead.

And rebadged / rebodied Fiat-GM-Opel production is purely f*cking sh*t : a pathetic caricature.

I could see it happening.. a 6C, same styling, slighter smaller, steel body... heh. Lets not forget the 149 which supposedly will borrow styling cues from the 8C.

First the new 3.2 V6 needs to be sorted out. THEN Alfa can start thinking about a 6C.

What does Alfa need to sort out about the 3.2 V6? It is already out and selling. If the new range proves to be popular and Alfa feels the need to expand its range with a "6C" then it will probably have more to do with current demand and sales than anything else. In any case, I imagine a 6C as a co-development down the line between Alfa and Maserati (using co-developed engines not sourced from GM).

I was trying to restrain myself... but ditto basically the same as aghevli.. heh From what Ive read, The new 3.2 seems to be a well rounded engine, nice breathibility, not huge huge power, but decent, and shockingly a lot of the Alfa spirit..
Lets not forget RussianM3 "cried all the way home" after test driving the Brera 3.2... so be careful what you believe from him..

If anything the weight of the cars needs to be sorted out. and really this is Gen 1 of this new engine, by the time it gets to the US, we'll already be into Gen 2-3, with a gta v6 too.
