Supped Up Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione 590Hp on Sale for $600k!

If there's one car out there that we'd do anything to acquire, Alfa Romeoâ??s 8c Competizione would easily top our list. Unfortunately, only 500 examples where built and, to our knowledge, they have all been spoken for. However, one of those 500 buyers decided to give this prized Italian beauty away on the Italian auction site, â??AutoScout24â??. And to make things more interesting, the seller quotes that the specific example has received a power boost (he doesnâ??t give any details though), with the Ferrari derived V8 delivering a whopping 590 Hp, 140 Hp more than the stock version. Still, that doesnâ??t seem to justify the â?¬380,000 or $600,000 USD (about double the retail price) that the seller is asking for. -More pics after the jump

How interesting
I wanted to buy one and was told - "only clients who have purchased multi Ferrari's would be considered for an 8C".
I explained that I have saved 5 Alfas from the crusher and should be considered, moreover, I'm considering selling all three of my children!
Which earned a response of - "did you get them thru college", I said, the oldest is finishing his third year and wants to become a Dr,. my second and third children are four and eight years behind.
The salesperson again responds - "there you go then, you are in NO position to even consider purchasing the 8C, besides, you haven't purchased an ENZO or three other Ferraris, SORRY"
Wait a minute here, (I said) didn't I just say the I AM selling my three children.

Funny, I was always under the impression it was a Maserati derived V8

You could buy 3 Ferrari 308's and turn them quickly...would that have put you on the list?  I wonder what was done, that the factory didn't do, to get this kind of Hp out of the 8c engine?

If anything, I think modifying the car at this early stage in its life would devalue it rather than add value. Unless of course it was factory mods, which seems unlikely.
The seller is testing the market.

The 430 engine is 4.3 liter so it's not the same. I was pointing out the mis information in the original post. Here's the engine's break down:
8 cylinder 4.7 engine: Italian ‘belcanto'
The engine is the beating heart of any Alfa Romeo. In this case it takes the form of a brand new 90° V 8 cylinder unit with a cylinder capacity of 4691 cc that was designed with one aim in mind: to ensure extraordinary performance while still offering a smooth drive and being usable in all circumstances, from the track to city traffic.
The top engine performance figures may be summarised as a maximum power output of 450 bhp at 7000 rpm, a peak torque of 470 Nm at 4750 rpm and a top speed of 7500 rpm.
The layout of internal fluid movements and the cylinder head cooling system is designed to achieve high duct permeability and effective intake load cooling to maximise volumetric efficiency and engine performance.
Harmonisation of the intake and exhaust geometry together with the introduction of continuous variable valve timing on the intake camshafts and optimisation of the combustion chamber and engine calibration means that 80% of torque is available from 2000 rpm.
In sporty driving conditions over mixed routes, the power unit offers impressively short response times due to the high permeability of the intake duct and the low inertia of the flywheel-twin plate clutch system.

Maserati Gran Turismo S: (bore x stroke) 94 x 84.5 mm = 4691 cc
Maserati Gran Turismo: (bore x stroke) 94 x 79.8 mm = 4430 cc
Ferrari F430: (bore x stroke) 92 x 81 mm = 4308 cc
Ferrari California: (bore x stroke) 92 x 81 mm = 4308 cc
All the cars have the SAME engine (except particular bore and stroke asocited differences)
