The Concorso has issued the following press release:
"Introducing the SV 9 Competizione
Concorso Italiano is proud to welcome SV Motor Company to the growing Concorso family of supporters. SV Motor Company is a subsidiary of SV Holdings, Inc., a privately held company, operating out of San Francisco’s famous North Beach district. SV Holdings is engaged in the development of a broad range of high quality products inspired by the Italian (and Italian-American) lifestyle. Chief among those products is the Italian-styled SV 9 Competizione sportscar (aka the “SV 9C” or “9C”).
To create the SV 9 Competizione, SV Motor Company put together an all-star team of auto industry specialists that includes Pratt & Miller Engineering; Corvid Technologies, ANSA Automotive; Pirelli Tire; and WinterPark Engineering. The team was then tasked with creating an American–made car that married the strength of American craftsmanship with the classic style and sensibility of an Italian carrozzeria; a car, in other words, whose performance and aesthetic characteristics would rival those of the finest Italian road cars, but whose price point would bring the supercar driving experience within the reach of Americans for whom it might otherwise remain just a dream. To achieve this, the team designed and coachbuilt from scratch a new, highly advanced, and exquisitely styled, carbon–fiber body; it then combined that body with an enhanced version of the already world–class Corvette powertrain.
We think the team managed to far surpass its goals. We invite you to decide for yourself by kicking the SV 9C’s tires at this year’s Concorso."
The upper photo is the ersatz 8C, while the lower photo is the real deal. So, do name and general appearance of this thing seem a lot like the Alfa 8C to anyone else? I know that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but is this sort of thing legal?
Oh, and I like the text: "...married the strength of American craftsmanship with....world–class Corvette powertrain". That's supposed to be a joke, right?

It looks a bit like a Corverrari or a Ferravette with Alfa 8c rear lights.

in my eye, i don't think it worked. it looks much more like a corvette trying to be italian, than an italian bodied corvette. but speaking of italian bodied corvettes, does anyone remember this?
One of three '59 corvettes sent to Italy to be bodied by Scaglietti. Gorgeous.

Let's not forget the other fine marriage of Detroit iron with Italian beauty. I submit the "Vettarossa".
Yes, that's a chrome prancing horse on the front licence plate area.

I'm not so sure this thread even belongs in this forum - it has so little to do with an 8C ... maybe it could start a new forum: Crap car wanna-bee's

Are you sure that isn't a Vettrossity?
Let's face it ... with an ALFA 8C at a quarter million dollar$ for 4-wheels on the ground - there will be imitators.
As is the case with much within the automotive industry; there is very little that is new. 'Vettes in better clothing are not revolutionary. It's likely this 9 cee will be a hit among the Barrett-J crowd.
While the present day Corvette is a bargain in terms of engineering per dollar when compared to some of the world's other offerings; it better serves as a platform for demonstrating new body styles than as a wanna-bee.
Once in a great while, the results can be something positive.

Scaglietti Vette
Just an afterthought ... even in a well executed design such as those Scaglietti bodied Vettes, a little bit of ALFA is included.

I'm dying to know if that's just a carbon fibre sticker over the Vette's rear window - trying to re-create the Alfa's rear window profiles. You can see the Vette's hatch lines still intact with the "roll" bar hoop in front of the lift off top. I think they're serious about "American craftsmanship"!!
I'm really ashamed that this came out of my own backyard! I wonder if they have a "dealership" or storefront I can go vomit in.

Really? I guess they forgot to add one of most critical components to the team....how about a world class stylist? The Chinese were recently criticized and the Japanese (in the early days) for copying existing vehicle designs...these guys come along and boast about the fact that they've created a copy-cat to the 8C and we're supposed to be in awe? I'm sure the corporate lawyers for ALFA must be working overtime to come up with a plan to nip this in the bud.

I was there, and saw the two models they brought to the show.
While I think the got the back-end as close as possible with what they were working with (i.e. the Vette's hatchback lines), the front end is ... well, you be the judge:
Overlook the panel gaps for now since it's largely a prototype ...

I'd like to - but the car is WHITE!?!?! If you're going to show a prototype and you know you've got half inch gaps on it - at least show it in a dark color to help hide the gaps!
So - what's the story on the rear hatch of the 'vette? Is the glass intact and still functional? Or?
