4C Exhaust Sound (noise)

The sound (noise) level of a 4C at freeway speed, which around here is 75 MPH ish, is well unpleasant. Makes for a very long day when traveling. I recently "Bucked Up" and changed my Exhaust. Capristo Exhaust of Germany make a complete system. This system Includes Mufflers. The system is programmable. There are 3 settings. Cruise, which is Full Mufflers. Sport, which is Programmable, that starts with Full Mufflers, but based on how it is programmed will mostly by pass the mufflers. Open which is well, open. The exit pipes are now center mounts. My Local Capristo Dealer, CT Motorwerks of Walnut Creek, Ca. Did a Great Install. Many Benefits!! First, the unexpected, More Power!! Noticeably More Torque! When running in Sport Mode on the Exhaust, Dynamic on the Drive Mode, the Pull off a Corner is quite a bit better. As I had hoped, the sound level at normal cruise speeds is just awesome. No harmonics, just a Very pleasant note. Lastly the Center Exit looks, in my opinion, Much Better than the Stock location. This Change Solves one of the two Big flaws in a 4C. We (my wife) and I now use the 4C on a regular basis for our weekend outings.

The 4C is available with two exhaust options, Standard and Racing. The standard has mufflers and the racing doesn't. Yes, one is somewhat louder, but more importantly, the racing exhaust has a better note.

Mine has the racing and we drive it daily. 23,000 miles in almost two years. This includes several long trips. One was 4,000 miles in three weeks.

Clearly, this is a individual and personal thing about what sounds good or looks good. Perhaps we're old enough that we've lost some hearing in 'that' range.

I know of several aftermarket exhaust systems, from whisper quite to rocket loud. The Capristo system is one I haven't been able to experience yet. It certainly looks to be promising.

I'd be interested in a follow-up report with a long-term view.

I actually had the Capristo system installed this past March, so far a very positive change in my opinion.

Anyone have experience with the Novitec valved 4C exhaust? I fund manually adjustable valves to he super useful but have not heard any feedback on this particular exhaust.
