All,
After communicating with the hotel, the Reservations Manager let me know that Holiday Inn is having some computer network reservation issues. They are working on this, but although all reservations seem correct, it is still difficult to impossible to make a convention reservation online. As a result, she has asked me to let everyone know that it would be best to simply contact her at the hotel directly.
She was very helpful and wants to make sure that all of you get your reservations made without any issues. Her e-mail text reads:
"Please have your members contact the hotel at 301-694-7500 and ask for IN-HOUSE reservations. Most of the time this will be transfered to my extension. If I do not answer please leave name and telephone number and I will contact the person back to make their reservation. They may also ask for me (Suzy) at extension 143 or call my direct line 240-215-2086. Those that would rather can email me at: suzanne.glunt@archonhospitality.com and I will get back to them that way. I will do all I can to make this all go smooth with reservations.
Sincerely,
Suzy Glunt/FOM-reservations manager"
I am trying to get an 800 number, which I will post here as well. If you are affiliated with a local chapter of AROC or ARA, please forward this information to your chapter leadership so that they can disseminate it to the rest of your chapter.

I made my reservation early on; I did have to call to request a lower room floor and the other accommodations that I needed because there were no check off boxes on the on-line reservation system for accommodations.
The hotel was very helpful and was more than willing to meet the requests. They also sent me a confirming e-mail specifically outlining the items I had requested as well as my confirmation number and price.
I suggest that if you can get the same thing that you print off the e-mail and bring it with you. The only reason I suggest this is because last year the price the hotel quoted over the phone was not honored at check-in so I ended up filing a chargeback request with my credit card company to get the money refunded. A lot less hassle if you can prove it in the beginning. The only reason I got the refund was because I had the time and date of the call as well as the person's name that quoted the price.

May I ask that any further discussion of the hotel reservations be moved to the more appropriate Hotel thread? Thank you. That will allow this thread to be kept to the discussion regarding Convention Registration.

Gordy--You are correct. But does it matter what floor the bar is on as long as there is one? I did get my room reservation this morning.--Harly

children pricing for convention meals? or opt out?
I have a question on registration. Having a 11 yr old and 14 yr old, are there kid prices on the meals (e.g., swap meet cook-out, Sunday brunch)?
Is it better to just opt out (at least for the 11 yr old, who wouldn't begin to eat enough to justify the price)???
Also, on time trialing, rental cars allowed?
Thanks,
Judy

When we brought our kids, we fed them separately in the room, whether we brought it in or ordered room service.
In previous years rental cars have been allowed, but you also need to be aware that if you take back a rental car with no brakes or other damage you will end up paying for it since most rental car agreements have a specific restriction against "racing." Having said that, a Corvette participated last year --- participant to remain nameless.

Judy,
No, there are no kid prices on the meals (when my kids were 11 and 14, they probably should have charged me double for their meals!! ). Having said that, although the Banquet and Awards Brunch are both paid attendance only events, there would be no problem with their attendance at the Friday Cook-Out...they just wouldn't get any of the burgers, etc. There are plenty of restaurants, diners and fast food joints nearby, including a reasonably-priced restaurant in the hotel itself.
Rental cars are often used for convention events. You may certainly choose to drive your rental car for the TT, however these cars will be placed in a separate category from the Alfas.

Convention Registration
As far as actual attendance, can that number be doubled or tripled since all of the 110 registrants are most likely not single individuals?

No, the 110 figure is for all persons registered, with about 2/3 or so of those being the paid registration in a family registration. However, because it is only the convention registration fee ($50) which is paid for by one party per family registration (all events being paid separately), the numbers we are using really means the 'Attendees', with one person in a couple being a "paid" registrant and the other enjoying the family discount.

+1... I just registered. ( Now John M is shaking like a leave on a tree in the middle of a wind storm,... although he still has time to fix his slow colored ride! )
That's a great registration page, Alex! The process was straightforward and a pleasure to use.
Best regards,

Thanks!
We are working with the company to keep all of our info available for you and the 2012 conventions to use if you wish. We are finding the system is excellent and it can report at a moment's notice the exact income, and registrant information and all kinds of easy to use tables, graphs and data. You can even e-mail all registrants in a specific event!

Alex:
I have been trying to access the on-line registration for the Convention all day and it continually gets stuck. I have tried linking via the alfabb, the AROC-USA site, and directly through the Capitol Chapter site and get the same results. It goes into an infinite loop of the green dialog box that says "You are about to access a secure internet connection..." and when you click to confirm it just brings the box back and it keeps doing it no matter how often you click. Using Task Manager says that the program is running, and if you try to "End Task" it says the program is waiting for "input from you".
Is this just a glitch for today?
Thanks
