Actually Carl, although you are technically correct that the Visconti coat of arms dates back to the crusades, the story is that the Crusading knight killed a Saracen whose shield was painted with the symbol of the Serpent devouring a Christian. The Visconti (Viscount) then added that symbol to his family coat of arms upon his return. So, originally...it symbolized a Muslim killing a Christian I suppose.
