it is clear that the new "Hemi" does indeed have what is known as a hemispherical combustion chamber but with added squish zones on the edges thus combining the best of the cross-flow design with the squish/quench zones of a wedge! Not only that but it is a twin spark to boot!

Also, as far as I understand it valve overlap does help to suck the mixture in...
Thanks ... I took a look and noticed how narrow the included valve angle is and thus (unlike the Alfa Nord engine) how shallow the combustion chamber is. More like a BMW 2002 and I guess a bit like the GTAm head:

Notice thus that the piston top is very flat ... again unlike the Alfa Nord engine.

Thus I guess any combustion chamber that has the valves inclined against each other (ie. inlet and exhaust make a V) is now called a hemi. Fair enough ... thus there are more efficient hemis than others

Getting excited about this engine ... notice also how nice and inclined the inlet port is! ... this thing should be a great breather with work, the tuners will (probably) love it. One of the problems with Alfa Nord (and Ferrari 308) heads is the inlet port angle is too flat ... thus you can't get them to flow big numbers.
