1992 164L restored
I am selling my 1992 Alfa 164L (grey with black interior). After two years (and $8,000) of restoring I had the opportunity to purchase a pristine 1994LS with very low miles and I jumped at it! I am not a mechanic but I am picky and so the move made good sense. The ’92 has been driven little since my purchase two years ago, and has never been winter driven. So someone with either mechanical skill or with easy access to an Alfa mechanic is going to get an almost fully restored vehicle – see almost full list below of replacement parts). I realize I could probably get more by parting it out but after all this time and money it deserves to be on the road. It now handles and brakes beautifully, just needs a good home. It is an automatic which I realize is not as attractive but look at all the new parts below and if nothing else will make a great parts car/second car!
This car originally came from Fort Wayne Indiana, was a single owner vehicle and was not winter driven to my knowledge. Never had an insurance claim! It has a clean CarFax record and passed its emissions test here with no problems. I live in Niagara Falls Canada and so it has had to pass both strict emissions and safety testing to be licensed. I can arrange for pickup in Niagara Falls NY with no problem – I’m just 20 minutes away. The only modification to meet Canadian standards was to install daytime running lights – simple modification – no exterior alterations.
The vehicle has 159,643 miles. Best offer gets it. Please contact me for high resolution pics - just tell me what you want to see!
Take care,
John

What’s good – engine smooth burns no oil, transmission smooth, no slippage, brakes, suspension, HVA/C, switchgear, glass, lights, interior is very reasonable for this age (apart from a one inch seam separation on driver’s seat bottom), A/C, all switchgear, all glass, all lights. Everything works including seat heaters!
Body, generally in excellent condition with the usual number of minor ‘grocery cart’ type defects. One long scratch on right rear lower panel – to primer, lower front bumper has had a tear repaired using rivets – cannot be seen unless on hoist, on both rear wheel wells just above the cladding some surface rust (about the size of a quarter) is apparent. That is the only place I can find any rust. The sunroof guide is a bit balky -needs a little help!
What’s left to do; ABS warning light and airbag warning lights come on occasionally for no apparent reason, radiator fan comes on too soon, headlamp washers work but don’t always retract (lack of use!), light bulb for exterior temperature display needs replacement, rear proportioning valve a bit stiff due of lack of use, right rear fog lamp bulb needs replacement, vents have some cracked louvers (replacements included), brake light switch beginning to fail - replacement included, oil pressure guage reads high until warmed up then settles down – oil pressure measured – no problems, windshield wiper guard missing – replacement included.
Spare parts included (used): ABS hydraulic unit, pair of replacement front headlights, left signal light, right fog lamp, rear proportioning valve, HVA/C control unit, windshield wiper guard missing – replacement included;(new) brake light switch
