I have not forgotten about the discussion in this thread. I don't think there was any confirmation or definitive conclusion as to whether they are different or the same (or if the re-manufactured glass has the same dimensions as the original glass, or if the windshield in question used the wrong rubber seals). The parts number documentation indicates the windshield are the same for both models.

I didn't ask Matt specifically about this issue but he didn't ask "which type" which he usually does if he's aware of issues or product variations or multiple versions. All he pointed out was that some other, cheaper products use thinner glass which creates issues with the seals.

A local restorer pointed out to me that old glass often used lead which kept it flexible and pliable and made it possible to fit into into frames under tension whereas modern glass would crack under the same conditions. This may have some implications on the tolerances of our handmade cars.
