I don't see why you and a buddy can't lift that windshield very carefully out of the way to get at those screws; my windshield was coming out anyway for re-chroming. If you plan on eventually re-chroming all the pieces on the car, this may be a good chance to do that since most chromed pieces on the car are fairly accessible - bumpers; front grille; hood scoop; glass supports; door handles; tail-light frame.
