Round-Trip Reconsidered - reality rears its ugly head
Greetings Fellow Alfisti:
The plan has been run a number of times, with helpful suggestions from the BB, and the logic does not work. It is unlikely we can enjoy a round trip if it needs to be completed in the 16 days we have on hand.
So we are back to considering transport for the Spider out to Portland and truly enjoying four days at the convention and 12 days on the return.
I am aware of a dispatch of cars from Detroit, but getting the spider there in early July would necessitate covering a lot of ground in an additional trip. In attempting to get rates locally, the efforts of a CT chapter associate and myself have come up with some extravagantly expensive quotes.
A big impediment may be finding a landing spot for the car(s) in Portland, assuming they may precede our arrival by any number of days. Does the Convention have a solution for that?
And, consider this a call to any fellow Northeaster' - can we attempt to fill a trailer going west to reduce the cost?
- Michael
