Also, most of the other clubs offer instructors to novice or intermediate drivers. This helps them bring up inexperienced drivers who keep the club alive with new members.

In recent years the Chicago Alfa club has ditched our old timing system, which required us to send cars out in small groups for timed laps, in favor of transponders. We now run the same open lapping session format throughout our events. This gives our participants tons of track time and every lap is timed - drivers get a printout of their times to keep after each session. We get many positive comments about the amount of track time at our events, and quite a few people leave before the end of the day because they have exhausted their stamina, brakes, tires, etc.
I agree with the comments about better publicity. This is something we have also worked on for our recent events, and we have also developed good relationships with several local marque clubs. The results have been very positive, with our Road America event in the fall of 2008 being sold out several days in advance so we had to turn people away.
We recently announced our 2009 events (Autobahn south track on July 3rd and Road America October 17-18th), and details of the Autobahn event are now available on our website Welcome to Chicago Alfa Romeo Owners Club and at www.myautoevents.com.
