I agree, it is unfair to criticize at this point. The TZ2 is the perfect car for those who find it hard to justify or own a replica. There were not enough made to make them obtainable. They were fiberglass which makes plastic replicas more authentic (unlike most cobras or speedsters -- 904 being the exception). IMHO the Lotus 7 (which was a sports car for the masses), the 904 (unobtainable and fiberglass) and the TZ2 (unobtainable and fiberglass) are the three cars most deserved of being replicated -- for different reasons. My hat is off to them.

BTW, you can still build a brand new Lotus Elan 26R from parts from Tony Thompson.
