Nice one Thom, thanks for sharing!
I have a Romeo 2 van myself to restore, among other things.
Would you consider running off a copy of this poster for me for my workshop wall?
Any costs etc covered.
Kind regards,
Vince.
Hi Jim,
It was the Lightburn Industries van when they were fishing for an agency to assemble Alfas here; and the only one sold into Australia according to Alfa archives.
Vin.
They were re badged Iveco Dailys of the late '80s. I've seen a few old and battered ones on my many visits to Sicily. I think they were Italian marked only. In the rest of Europe they were plain Iveco Daily with model/type numbers.
A friend of mine has a AR8 35.8, long and high van, which was imported from Estonia a few years ago. I have a very similar, 1979 Fiat Daily 35.8, which I am about to dismantle for parts, as the body has rusted rather beyond repairing. I have a complete factory press kit for the Alfa Romeo AR8, I should take a few pictures of it and upload them here. I was in Trieste in 1997 and you could still see many Alfa Romeo vans in daily traffic, aswell as beater 500 Fiats, Simcas, Giulias and Fulvia Coupes, but sadly they all seemed to be gone from the roads while I was visiting northern Italy a few years ago.
