Today was Concorso Italiano at the Marina Air Field, and boy, was it a change from the Blackhawk Golf Course. There was not one single patch of grass anywhere (concrete only), and the wind kicked up in the afternoon, and without any topography/trees to block the wind, it got too cold for lots of folks. In my opinion, it lost the coziness that the old venue emanated, with its expanse of grass, trees, small knolls, and as a result a touch of class. Someone referred to it as resembling a swap meet - a humorous comment, but not without merit.
I'm not sure if Alfa participation suffered, we'll know next year since everyone would then have a good idea of what the field looks like.
