I'm reviewing the tech form for "Battery, Steel Mount, Positive (terminal) Covered". My Spider has an Optima battery mounted in the spare tire well in a marine battery box located by a sort of 1.00 x 1.00 Aluminum angle cage. The battery is restrained on four sides and bottom by the angle, and has an Aluminum hold down angle piece inside the box held by threaded steel rods that extend to the bottom parts of the "cage". Does this strap need to be steel?. And, do the rods need to be run through steel (the bottom of the spare tire well)?.
