Andrea deCesaris was #22 and Bruno Giacomelli was #23 for Alfa Romeo. Nikki Lauda was #8 in the McLaren. At least this season. But giving Andrea the #8 would make sense because it reads the same either way.

I miss the Long Beach F1 race (went to everyone of them). I scanned this photo from the 1983 program. I believe that was the last year for F1 there. Wasn't nearly as good when they brought in the Champ cars. The engine scream when the F1 cars went down Long Beach blvd. was unbelievable. The sound bounced off all the high rise building and went all over the downtown area.
