The older filler with the threads on the outside used to want to cross thread all the time and you had to put it on very carefully for it not to do that. The newer one is like any other car in America, I guess different isn't always better. The old one had a nice Alfa Romeo script on it though, if I remember it correctly. I think the newer neck is much lighter, with more plastic in it's construction.
