Back in 1973 we took a V12 sedan (carburator V12) and we chopped the back of it to make a tow truck out of it. unfortunately I do not have any picks of that contarption. But it did the job superbly speciamlly to tow in the BMW's, the MG's and other cars.
I was GM of a huge dealership on the East Coast (Jaguar, BMW, Alfa Romeo, MG, Triumph, Lotus, Jensen Healey, Morris and a few more).

Yes, it is a great powerful engine but you seem to forget all the other things surrounding it, you know all the electrical stuff. Although it may be semi-reliable. haha! I would say that car is just as reliable as the 164 is. Tow truck huh, sounds like the 164/saab limo they made on Top Gear. LOL! Pulling MGs and Bmw's, makes perfect sense to me.
