Acetone does not work, and anecdotal "tests" do not count. You can easily vary your mileage by 10% or more just with weather, how you drive and all sorts of other variables.

Think about it. If acetone actually improved mileage 10% don't you think that car manufacturers would start doing it and be able to meet or exceed CAFE standards with out having to do the heavy lifting of redesigning everything?

Or if I was a small oil company and could prove my gallon was 10% better than your gallon and I could get 5% more $ for my gallon or get a larger market share than the big guys?

Next the "Fish" carburettor and the ionizing magnetic molecule alignment thingy will make a comeback.

Under controlled laboratory conditions acetone has actually been proven to to lessen mileage.

And to add fuel to the fire oil companies profit margins are less than 10% and are inline with most any other heavy industry. They do not have "excess" profit. If you want to punish corporations for making "excess" profits look at Google, Yahoo and hedge funds and other ones that have profits in the 25% area.
