So I might as well type the text in norwegian then since you just look at the pictures?
Ok, let me show you how I plan to tackle the "missing link" between the front piece and the rest of the body. I need to know what shape it has. To record that I use a flexible tape pattern. Did I touch that base before? I think not. A couple of posts back you could see there is a piece missing and replaced by strips to hold it in place. Well that won't do, it's too leaky so I need a solid piece of the right shape and arrangement.
This picture shows the tape pattern I took off another Spider that I have access to. It have been hit in the nose, but not too seriously, so the shape is OK.
The stippled lines encompass the area where new sheetmetal is needed. But if it were to be made from one piece, some quite severe stretching would be needed where the front meets the headlight opening. It has to be made in several pieces. I'm sorry I did not take a picture of the tape pattern lying on a flat surface. That makes it really easy to analyze where it needs stretch and where it need crimp. I have one of the bootlid though. It reveals that most of the shape (strech in this case) is in the rear 1/3. Figuring that out using contour patterns would either require a huge experience or lots of scrap.
Making the Z-shape along the hood opening would make it much more difficult. So let's first make that opening, as a really easy piece is needed to boost morale.
Ahh... that was easy. Now I feel better and ready for a more demanding piece. Here it is, held in place by clamps.
That was first of May, and then suddenly summer arrived. And with it distractions like the lawn, weeds, cleaning the place of crap, and admittedly some plain basking in the sun. Then I also need to get my Spyder ready for summer. It needs a new clutch.
