I have been having intermittent starting problems and I think I've finally discovered the real culprit. The wire on the pulse generator is a bit frayed and apparently the two ends touch sometimes and short out. The car will start sometimes, then sometimes not. When she was running... I jiggled the wires and she died... so I have a question.
Is this green wire just one wire that is split at the connection? I've tried to trace it from the pulse generator but I loose it in the worms nest. I'm guessing that it leads to somewhere on the ignition?
I cannot find info on it and would like to know if I should strip the wire at the connection and re-solder it. It looks like it's just two female connectors that slip over the male connectors in the dizzy. Does anyone know if the white cap is important? ... I mean does it contain vital parts or is it simply a cover piece? Please look at the following pic. Sorry for the quality... I'll take a clear one in the morn. Thanks for helping me with preschool mechanics!
