BULL! Haha, okay I took the bait, but lets examine this further unless you have a 4 cylinder masking itself as a V6! 
There is something amiss in the equation; possibly your reliable Alfa electronics (speedo, speedo sender, gauge, etc.). At 90 - 110mph (which is NOT smart, but we're not talking about that yet), the car is just sucking down gasoline, just guzzling it. There seems to be after a certain speed, say around 75 - 80, that these cars just start guzzling gas. Since you have no 6th gear, your engine at those speeds would be turning 4 - 5k rpm. This is definitely not in the economical range.
Oh! Is it a hybrid conversion???
