Yes, I know that is the reason behind the name but I still find it odd. As I said, it sounds a little better if you say it in an Italian accent. I do think names have an effect on sales to some extent. What if Ford had called the Mustang the Gerbil or something? Anyway, going by the pictures, the car should sell on looks alone.
