Cool Pics Jimcra, thanks!

I have very mixed emotions about last weekends LBGP. I have been a fan of CART/Champ Car since they wrestled American Open-Wheel away from USAC back in 1979 and have many fond memories of races at Ontario, Riverside, Laguna Seca, Fontana and, of course, Long Beach. I am trying to remain optimistic about the buyout...er, "reunification", but I do not trust Tony George to do what's best for the sport.

I went down to Long Beach on Saturday this year and was treated to one of the best ALMS races I have ever seen. They announced that ALMS has signed a five year deal with the city, so we know there will still be good racing at The Beach, but I'm sure going to miss the awesome sound of the Turbo Cosworths.

A few snaps from Saturday...

One of the things I like best about the Long Beach track is how close you are able to get to the cars. Yes, there is tons of fencing and concrete between you and the cars, but there are a few place where a spectator can get within 15 feet of the cars as they go by.

The Fountain Turn and The Aquarium of the Pacific from the Mai Tai Bar...not a bad place to spectate

Yesterday's Race Cars, today's paper weights.

Class winner during Saturday's ALMS event, The Tafel Ferrari outlasted the Flying Lizard Porsches in one of the best races I have ever seen.

RIP Champ Car...
