I thought I had seen a picture of such a vehicle somewhere! I had a look in the book 'Le Alfa di Merosi e di Romeo' by Luigi Fusi, published in November 1985 by Editrice Dimensione S.
On page 222 I found a picture of a tracked Alfa. The text reads; Gennaio 1925 - Prototipo cingolato con motore RM progettato da Merosi a richiesta dell'Esercrito italiano'. The engine certainly looks like a RM.
