I always get the comment "I bet that car costs a ton to keep running", to which I say "Not nearly as much as your BMW!" Then I say "If it is soooo unreliable then how did it get to 201,500 miles and counting?" By then they usually just shake there heads and walk away. Yes having mechanical knowledge helps in owning these cars, but they are no where near as bad as the crap that British Leyland put out in the, well pretty much the entire duration of their existence!
