One more thing...

The whole reason for this odyssey was a wayward bolt working loose and "finding" the oil pump drive cog; the jamming of said cog causing the timing belt to stop wile the crank kept turning. Hilarity did not ensue.

The bolt was one of two that attach ground straps to the plenum. I attached the new bolts with lock washers and put a dollup of thick paint (My daughter's nail polish. Also good for marking the cams) on them. This way I can visually verify that the fasteners are not working loose.
