ToonRBoy, an MSD is only good for multiple spark to 3K RPM anyway, so getting one for going over 7K isn't worth it. CDI helps keep the coil firing well at that rpm but you only get that and not multi-sparl. Pretty much any other MSD competitor makes a better product. Mallory and Summt for example.
I didn't see Paul's car going 9K rpm so I can't comment on that but I did hear him run it as Nashville with that Supertrapp on the back and it sounded pissed off. Really high whine and he did well as I recall. Anyway, with the stock injectors you'd be limited to ~ 7k according to Greg G. I'm sure Paul put bigger ones in though, considering all the other work he did.
