In addition to the above...
D'Amico and Tabucci in their serial number/year breakdown seem to indicate the bodies were finished nearly as randomly as engines were pulled and put in cars.
Heck, they could have stamped SS numbers on firewalls attached to floorpan/chassis at the Alfa factory before they ever sent them to Bertone for bodies.
Period pictures of the Bertone assembly line show Sprints, SS's and 2600's all shuffled together.
My car is 413 and the trim is all stamped 415. Oops. Oh well. I'm not going to put too much stock in numbering. On that note I am still looking for an 00120 engine.
