Fitting GTV carpet sets

Hello all

I've just started fitting one of the carpet sets to my 1750 and I'm looking for any tips and suggestions from people who have done it before! I've started with the transmission tunnel and the sill covers and I know I have to cut out the areas for the seat mounts, but dry fitting a couple of other pieces, they seem to need some 'adjustment'. The carpet over the gearbox area appears to need lots of fettling as the area around the gearlever boot is not big enough to sit down against the sheetmetal around the transmission tunnel normally, and if you make it go down there, the part that goes towards the heater box doesn't fit very well. Also the small "U" section at the rear of the transmission tunnel seems to be too wide. Finally, I've got all the screw holes for the rear of the main floor mat sorted out, but forgot to check on my 'reference car' about the mats that go against the firewall. Are they screwed or glued down?

I couldn't find a reference to all this in searching the archives, hence the fresh query. Apologies if I'm going over old ground...

Andrew
