Did Alfa Romeo really paint their engines, I'm particularly interested for 1750 GTV's as I always thought they were just bare alloy??? I hate painting alluminium ... oh man am I going to have issues .

Maybe I can help you with your issues -- I didn't paint my engine! Although there was evidence of what looked like yellowed clear coat on the block. I walnut blasted my aluminum then scrubbed the hell out of it with cleaners and kitchen scrubbies.I did paint my valve cover with Hammerite.
