have a look at the well known picture Publifoto picture emailed at #55 shot during the warm up lap of the 1957 Intereuropa, Pace's Giulietta (#43) is wearing the extended nose.
I guess it was a trial for bettering the aerodynamic shape of the body in fastest races like Monza and Mille Miglia.
A question: in your list dates are sometimes missing, do you need them?
