If you can get it looking stock, it will very likely pass. But, if it gets sent to the referee, they even go far as (this was on a kit car someone brought in) checking the date code on a chevy 350 block and if had been anything newer than 66 it would have to have been completely stock for that year. But then again, the people I know with engine swapped volkswagens that looked stock had no problem at all passing the normal smog test.
