Great info here with the rack fix. What had caused the large boot to fill with fluid - just extended operation?
Thanks,

Not COMPLETELY sure but I caused a REAL big leak when I first got the car with bad clutch and could not drive it. I had to move it into garage by pushing by hand and turning wheel without engine running and it dumped out all the fluid. Must have upset a seal without pressure on system. Once I refilled reservoir and started engine it resealed but boot already full and there is a small drilled hole in end of shaft where inner tie rod end screws in and what fluid didn't leak out of boot went inside shaft so I had a mess when I took rack apart and I thought I still had a real leak.
I decided to pressure check rack before I took it apart further to change seals and glad I did. It may have a small amount of seepage over time but nothing to get excited about.
