If you bought it from Bob Corr this summer, it is the same car I saw.
I think it will be very difficult to find out what really happpened to the car. Was there an accident at some point in time and did someone put a rear end from a MG on it? Whoever did it, did a good job.
I find the prototype story hard to believe, but that is just my opinion. Does this theory correspond with a new line of cars / model at the time?
I don't know the production runs very well (when did they start, when did they end), but there is a lot of data available on production runs, VIN # etc, so you should be able to find out if the facts support the theory.
Nice car though.
