I would like to avoid removing the bayonet housing unless I have to so does anyone know if the chrome plating will have an effect on the operation of light bulbs??
Below are the light assemblies showing the bayonet light bulb housings that I am referring to.

Those housings are easy to replace. I tracked down an electrical short in my right front blinker (Carello) to a corroded housing. I pried it out, took it to the nearest auto parts store and they were able to match it perfectly.
