The good news is that, to my knowledge, the veneering is double sided. The bad news is that the finishes are different; semi-gloss on the outside (for a LHD car) and zero gloss on the other side. If that's the case, I don't see why one couldn't use the appropriate varnish on the zero gloss side. Perhaps JoeCab will pipe in.
