Grab handle;
Carefully slide the 'knot' to reveal two nails. The nails, each inserted from the opposite direction, hold the handle to the light assembly (white arrows). Remove the nails (which will break in the process). A pin holds the spring loaded portion of the handle to the light. The exit hole for the pin is shown by the black arrow (push the pin from the other side). Use caution when the pin is removed as parts may fly off into the cosmic void. Note that the spring mechanisms are different for left and rightside handles. If the metal is not too badly pitted, it can be smoothed out and chromed like the handle in the pic. The plan is to use 4mm bolts, nuts and washers to reattach the handle to the light.

I've no experience with rechroming these. I went with new, complete assemblies including lenses.
