There should be two numbers on the shell of a Giulietta Sprint, one is the chassis number 1493*XXXXX stamped into the firewall....... but then you all knew that.
The other is stamped on the top RHS leading edge of the scuttle & on this car should start with "65XXXX" this is the Bertone Body number, which was used by Bertone to keep track of units built before they had chassis numbers.
The body number does not really tell us anything as Bertone's records have not survided the passage of time, but John de Boer is compiling a list of cars which includes this number, so hopefully if we can get enough people to divulge the chassis / motor / body number of their cars, we may begin to get a clearer picture of what / why / how the numbers correspond.
