Andy, it took me a bit to realize you are restoring the Giulia for Alex. Actually I was quite happy to see your 'workbench' since it is one of the few I've seen that almost makes mine look neat. Though you are the one doing the work it is Alex's car and his thread and I don't mean to hijack it, but I will slip in the reminder that we had a conversation a year ago regarding paint systems. I've chosen to stick with 'traditional' but Tom Sahines sure is right in that you've got a system which really works for you. That's a great paint job. You don't color sand/polish?

I was at a body/paint shop yesterday and had a longish discussion with the owner. He also fully agreed on not stripping to bare metal unless necessary. He showed me a car which was being sanded down using a small air driven sander and the finish looked a lot like the Giulia's before primering. Is that what you use? He also uses it for dry color sanding. I'm thinking of getting one but more for the color sanding since for some reason my expensive Sata spray gun still insists on spraying orange peel (happy face). I feel this 'system' will smooth it out much faster than the bucket of water hand sanding method. Comments?
