Subtle: No, that is not correct! There has been a long time speculation that the Montreal originally "was intended as a mid engined car, but that the plan was abandoned because of time shortage". That was only a rumour. One of the constructors(Busso) was interwiuved about the Montreal project and he definitevely killed that rumour! The car was never intended as a mid engine car! The side vents were only for styling and ventilation! He also mentioned that the dream combination was the V8 in the transaxle GTV, the GTV8. But alas it was never produced in quantity.
Darryl: Interesting your info about the Ricciardello GTV. Photos of the technical solutions would be welcome. As I know the car is not raced any longer and Ricciardello has moved to another brand. Maybe the car is for sale or used in lower class racing?
